SMF is pleased to launch the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone Playbook for Manufacturers: A Guide to Setting Up and Operating in Johor, a practical guide designed to support manufacturers exploring opportunities in the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ), at our Manufacturing Day Summit 2026 on 30 January.
In today’s rapidly evolving global economy, Singapore manufacturers are increasingly seeking ways to expand production and strengthen supply chains. The JS-SEZ offers a practical pathway to grow capacity and stay competitive.
Developed by SMF and its partners, the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), DXC Technology, EY Singapore, and UOB, and supported by Enterprise Singapore (EnterpriseSG), the playbook provides a structured guide to help manufacturers assess readiness and make informed decisions when establishing operations in the JS-SEZ.
Based on real-world experience supporting companies on the ground, the playbook consolidates key considerations into a clear and actionable framework. At its core is the SETUP Framework, which guides companies through the essential stages of expansion — from selecting the right zone and understanding incentives, to meeting legal requirements, leveraging bilateral support, and preparing talent and supply chains.
To further support companies, SMF will roll out an AI-powered chatbot in the coming months to provide quick and accessible answers to common questions about setting up and operating in the JS-SEZ. Together, these resources are designed to empower informed decision-making and reduce barriers to entry, whether companies are assessing suitability, planning their entry strategy, or actively preparing for setup.
